War Against Poverty (WAP)
July 2008- June 2011

The objective of this project is to improve their living standards poor communities especially the micro entrepreneurs and small-scale farmers in the target area (of Arusha and Arumeru District) through the provision of gender sensitive business management skills, advisory services and access to micro-credits.

Services provided includes Training:
BEST conducts training to entrepreneurs in the following:

  • Business Ideas Generation
  • Business Planning
  • Record Keeping
  • Marketing
  • Costing and Pricing
  • Gender and Development
  • Credit: BEST issues loans to small scale entrepreneurs
  • Export trade.
  • Business Advisory Services.

The close monitoring of the project is done by BEST in cooperation with village leadership.

Fighting Poverty (FIPO)
July 2009 – June 2010

The project aims at improving the life standards of the poorest of the poor families in Arumeru District. Servicing poorest of the poor is a complex matter which need close supervision as people do not have food, proper shelter and some have not gone to school. The project is addressing the issues of economic activities, cross cutting issues of HIV/AIDS, Environmental conservation and school child education.
